First off, as discussed at our last meeting, this coming Saturday is the swap meet in Kyle at the racetrack. Nothing has been formally set up by the club, but it is typically a great swap meet and a fun event, if anyone wants to go.
The main event involves visiting the Regency Village Nursing Home (near the corner of William Cannon and Brushy Creek) with our Corvairs, the 2nd Saturday, February 11Th. The plan is to meet 1st for our club brunch (Note: this month back at Casa Garica's) and then we will organize our caravan to the nursing home.
I would like to meet at 10:30 for breakfast/brunch, and plan to be at the nursing home between 11:45/12:00. I will provide treats for the residents and if anyone would like to bring anything to pass out that would be great.
I will need a head count so I can let the folks know what to anticipate. At this time, they are very excited that a car club would be interested in visiting and are very much looking forward to it. Even if you don't have a running Corvair, you are still welcomed to join us to spread some Valentines Love.
Remember we all could be at this place at any given time.... So, we need to to do our part in making a smile happen.... And what a better way than our unique Corvairs....
I look forward to seeing you all there,
Leslie

Hello to fellow club members,
I would like to invite everyone out to the Chuy's "Children Giving To Children Christmas Parade"! Both Greg and I have attended this event since the start and it's a wonderful way to kick off the holiday season (everyone includes any family, friends and kiddo's)! We will not be in the parade, just some of the many faces in the crowd of on lookers enjoying the good time. The idea behind this event is to give toys to Blue Santa, so everyone is encouraged to bring a unwrapped toy to give. And once you see all the toy's in the trucks you are BLOWN away. The date is Saturday November 26th in Austin, on Congress Ave. It starts at 11:00 AM so we need to be there at 10:30 at the latest to ensure we have a nice spot. I would like for us to be at 5th and Congress (East Side). I will provide a sweet snack for everyone. All I ask is if you are planing on coming please let me know so I can know how many goodies to make. To read more, here's a good website to check out: www.gotexas.about.com/b/2011/11/07/2011-chuys-christmas-parade.htm. On a final note, I know that Andy and Janie will be in attendance at the parade in the Micro Cars, so we need to be there to cheer them on!
Thanks and look forward to seeing everyone,
Leslie Whalen

Subject: my thoughts from the last meeting Aug 25, 2011
Hello to all the members!
First off we had 14 folks in attendance for our meeting. What a wonderful turnout!! Thanks for everyone coming out to support our club. I hope everyone was okay with moving up the meeting time to 7:00, next month I will make sure we send out a reminder email to give a Heads Up. Next month will be cooler (we hope) so I believe we should have more Corvair’s in attendance. It was nice to see some of our members past and present that haven't been present in some time. We had a potential new member named Daniel and I hope he will join. Congrats to Paul for being our first member to win the door prize. And also thanks to David who did a very nice impromptu teck session on the fuel pump. It was nice to hear some of the details from the National Convention. I know I'm looking forward to seeing the photos at next month’s meeting. Lastly on my thank yous, thanks to Andy for having the backup business card, next month we will all have our own to pass out to promote our club. In closing I hope to see many members on 09/10/11 for the bat watching cruise. Remember it’s not just for the club members, your friends and family are more than welcomed. I just need to have a head count prior to that date. I will touch base via the web site or email to get the numbers finalized. Thanks again and everyone have a wonderful rest of your month.
Leslie

I wanted to give a Shout Out to all members that came out to Mcdade. We had 7 Corvairs in attendance!!! What a way to show our support of our cars. I hope everyone enjoyed themselves, I know I certainly did and I came back home a different shade. It was great that so many of our group walked away with a Mcdade watermelon. Both Andy and Janie really worked hard on organizing the event and it certainly showed.
Lastly I want to wish a safe and wonderful time for the members that will be in attendance at the Corvair Convention in Denver. Please take lots of photos for us to enjoy.
See you at the next meeting,
Leslie
